In 1989, overnight Witch Bonnie's name was everywhere, playing the biggest clubs in Boston on the best nights with some of Boston's best bands. Everybody was talking about this new band with high energy on stage and memorable songs. Oh yes... let's not forget the crazy antics on stage every night, including the flash pods and the strippers. This is the band's first 8 song demo tape, "Hot Nice & Nasty", which several record companies had pass on. As there was a local demand for the band's recorded music, this demo actually ended up being the band's first release. This recording eventually found itself in thousands of cassette players. There is also a follow-up 10 song release, "The First Time Always Hurts", which also sold thousands of units. In all, Witch Bonnie had reached 50 U.S. states and 22 countries via the band's self marketing campaign. By 1991, Witch Bonnie was receiving up to 200 pieces of fan mail daily, with a over 150 cassettes distributed daily.

Guest involvement sees bassist Billy Greer of KANSAS and THE SIGN and Randy Jackson of ZEBRA and THE SIGN aiding their band mate.
A collection of esteemed songwriters would also contribute such as DRIVE, SHE SAID's own MARK MANGOLD on the track 'Up All Night'. SURVIVOR guitarist Jim Peterik contributes his talents to the title track and 'We Invented Love' whilst JOE LYNN TURNER donates his skills to 'Forever Now'.

It's shamefully typical that these same gossip vomiting fakes that destroyed the record industry in the first place consult TMZ, Rock of Love, and $800 handbags to find out what's cool. Terry Crawford is the drummer with the excellent Canadian pomp rock band Lightspeed whom I really should get round to reviewing very soon. But he’s obviously much more than a drummer and plays most of the instruments here as well as showing off a fine larynx not unlike the direct delivery of Dave Baldwin from New Jersey’s Tradia. Lending moral and musical support are several of his Lightspeed buddies and also Jim Gilmour from Saga - now that’s the way to get my attention!
After the short instrumental opening "Too Little, Too Late" is the first "proper" song and is much lighter than the splendour of Lightspeed. It’s still in a pomp/progressive style but there’s also a poppy bent which makes it refreshing and rather like Frozen Ghost. "You Don’t Listen" confirms these observations and almost sounds like Camel on "Stationary Traveller" with its hybrid progressive style and commercial awareness - an excellent track all round!
There’s lots of fine moments throughout this album - sure it might get poppy at times but its still complex without being overburdening. "No Anchovies" (nice title!) has some pretty insistent guitar work, "Neon Lights" is excellent guitary radio rock, and "Through the Years" has very Saga-ish keyboards to name three of the high points.
Overall it is indeed a very hybridised approach, but it really grows on the listener and is well worth tracking down….(aorbasement)

The first of two fine releases by this Swiss hard rock band, featuring two former members of The Foolhouse and the vocal talents of Jean-Marc Viller (credited with lead vocals on Rough Generation "Psycho Trippin'" (1990), Back Street "Euphoria And Depression" (1993), and two different Escape Music 2007 releases, Neverland "Schizophrenia" and Daydreamer "Daydreamer". Also to his credits are backing vocals on both Fun Gogh albums, the first two Shakra albums, Crystal Ball "Timewalker", Crown Of Glory "A Deep Breath Of Life", and a duet on the title track of Lunatica's "Fable Of Dreams" album).
This is typical Swiss melodic rock... good melodic songs with the required loud, proud, and in your face delivery. And, it is even sponsored by Budweiser so you know it will go down smooth. Pretty hard to find nowadays. Recommended.

A great album, heavy twin guitar yet melodic. Very catchy songs. The original version of this album came in an amazing fold out sleeve (different picture) with Ross Halfin photos. Saw these guys supporting UFO. The band put out quite a few albums and did a lot of touring. A big history and full discography on the Rockdetector site. Be careful- look for the British Wraith, not the American ones. Other albums are 'Danger Calling' (sounds like Kiss) and 'Schizophrenia' with Kim Nielsen from Phantom (HH)

Sharon O'Neill was born on 23rd November 1952 in Nelson and started performing locally in the late 60's on acoustic guitar. She was a self taught musician who learned to play mainly by ear. Sharon started composing at an early age, mainly by putting chords to her poetry.

Sharon's first recordings were with a couple of friends from Nelson, Robin Winch and Nancy Richman. They recorded a song for Ode in 1971 as Suitewater. The song was "Suzanne"/"Chords of Fame". An entry into the 1970 Mobil Song Quest, saw them make the finals with a song called "Life Upon Life" written by Sharon. The song appeared on the album from the Quest under the recording name of Sharon and Nancy. The album "Mobil Song Quest 1970" was released on the Kiwi label, catalogue number MS-70.

This CD was released to coincide with Sharon's support concert series with Leo Sayer. The concerts have been a huge success and it is fantastic to see Sharon back on the stage, performing as good, if not better, than she always has.

Cats Can Fly was a Canadian synthpop band in the 1980s. They released one album in 1986.

Cats Can Fly began as a school rock band called Ethos at Elia Junior High School (now Elia Middle School) in North York, Ontario in 1971. The original members were Jim Longmuir on guitar, Alan Frizell on guitar, Frank Miller on drums and Peter Steele (later [1] Peter Alexandre) on bass. It was formed under the supervision of School Board consultant Laura Lapedus. The following year Mitch James replaced Jim Longmuir, Alan left, David Ashley replaced Peter on bass and Peter switched to keyboards.

Wurx was formed in 1979 by high school friends John Adams (guitars), Michael Jordan (bass), and and Lance Nix (drums). They started off playing some of John's originals, and Black Sabbath covers. Their first gig was opening for Rick Woods and his band Zero Stone at The Agora Ballroom (John is currently in 'Lights Out, A Tribute to UFO' with Rick Woods).
They added singer Jeff Vanden Berghe and a revolving door of bass players. (John and Jeff are still working together in a band called "Love And War").
Wurx traveled the US from '87 through '89, doing the major club circuit, opening for rising stars (and blowing most of them away), including Poison, Dokken, Adam Ant, and many others.(ty Rock Idol)

Excellent blues based hard rockers who remind me of late 70's Bad Company crossed with Badlands.
Great vocalist, and all round musicianship make this a must for fans of the above bands.
